Upcycling Ideas for Affordable Home Furnishings
Do you love the concept of reduce, reuse, recycle? Today I’m sharing upcycling ideas for affordable home furnishings!
Thank you Facebook Marketplace for sponsoring this post. There’s something for everyone!

You know that I love repurposing and thrifting. Flea markets are a passion. DIY is my job. Antique stores are my happy place. But my number one, go-to source for affordable home furnishings to upcycle is Facebook Marketplace.
Upcycling Ideas for Affordable Home Furnishings
I have several upcycling ideas to share with you today, all sourced from Facebook Marketplace! If you’re new to upcycling, here is an easy definition.
Upcycling | The process of taking used materials or home furnishings and repurposing them for your own use.
This can include anything from refinishing old furniture, to building something new out of old materials, to simply inserting gently used items into your home!
The best part about Facebook Marketplace is that you are buying locally. If you’re looking for a dining table, you can simply search “dining table” to see hundreds of options (depending on your area) available to you. Next, sort through them like an online store. Finally, connect with the seller via Facebook Messenger to make the deal!
If you remember my post on 10 tips for the art of negotiation, then you know I love a good bargain. And Facebook Marketplace has proven itself over and over to me that affordable home furnishings are within my own home town.
So, today I’m sharing three specific purchases I’ve made on Facebook Marketplace and how I’ve taken them from something used into something new {to me}!
Repurpose
The first Facebook Marketplace find I scored is this huge vintage window. I was in need of something large for this wall in our sunroom and found this 7 foot beauty 20 minutes from home. Best news ever….it was $20!
So I repurposed this window into wall decor and made an indoor flower box to help cheer me up in the cold months! You can see the tutorial for how I created that in this post.
It’s always so much fun to style this space now that I have a statement wall to work around.
Refinish
My second favorite find is our living room coffee table. One thing I intentionally look for when I’m seeking clever upcycling ideas is that a piece of furniture has “good bones”. And man did this table have good bones. The legs on this beauty are my favorite!
But you wouldn’t have known it from the before photos! See in this post how I refinished a dated coffee table into this modern farmhouse piece.
Reuse
Finally, my third Facebook Marketplace find is the number one piece of furniture I get asked about on Instagram! My set of seer sucker chairs! (Follow me there for daily inspiration!)
You would not even believe the number of times I’m asked where these chairs are from. Gently used furniture on Facebook Marketplace is a treasure trove for those who want the high end look on an affordable budget.
I purchased these chairs for 1/4 the price of what they cost in store and they are in great condition!
Upcycling Ideas | Next Project
My newest Facebook Marketplace find is this set of simple side tables. I recently purchased them knowing I wanted clean lines and a simple style for our guest bedroom. I plan to chalk paint them white or black. I’d love to hear your thoughts on which color I should go with! Tell me in the comments below!
I hope that this post has been helpful to you! Make sure you check out your own local Facebook Marketplace to see what treasures are in store for your next project or room refresh!

We just bought a used dining room table. I can’t wait to used your ideas.

My husband and I love the FB Marketplace! I vote black for your guest room tables. Happy upcycling!
Thank you! I was leaning towards black too!
The window on the wall must really open up your room – it feels like it’s a real window to the world! I love your upcycling items, the chairs are seriously amazing.
Thank you! It really does make a statement in this space!
